AIT Webster College Retreat

“The Webster retreat is one of my favorite events of the year. It gives us students a chance to experience the arts at Webster, Opera Theatre St. Louis, and the collegiate level through a few days of learning, singing, and having fun.”- Lydia, Senior

In late May, several AIT students participated in a weekend retreat in partnership with Webster University. The Webster College Retreat gives AIT students a taste of campus life as well as the opportunity to experience the life of a professional musician through rehearsing and performing a staged musical theater or operetta scene. This year’s performance featured selections Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific led by music director Alice Nelson and stage director Ron Gibbs. Participants took classes in acting, theater voice, and audition preparation from Webster faculty members. Students also enjoyed Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ productions of Puccini’s, Madame Butterfly, and Ricky Ian Gordon’s, The Grapes of Wrath.
