AIT Students Present Winter Recital

The 2017-2018 Artists-in-Training class presented their winter recital at Graham Chapel on the campus of Washington University on Sunday, January 14th. Students performed a variety of repertoire ranging from Baroque to 20th Century Art Song. This recital was the culmination of a 10-day residency with bass-baritone Kevin Short who worked with the students in private lessons and master classes on building technique, honing interpretive skills, and offering a confident public performance. As a special edition, Mr. Short performed Jerome Kern’s “Ol’ Man River” from Showboat at the conclusion of the recital.

The AIT class will perform their Spring Recital on Sunday, April 22nd at 3 P.M. at The Sheldon Concert Hall. This recital will conclude a two-day adjudication with over $10,000.00 in scholarship funds awarded to participants. A free public reception will celebrate the completion of the 2017-2018 Artists-in-Training year. This recital is free and open to the public. No reservation is necessary.
