AIT Students Attend Webster College Retreat

Artists-in-Training students participated in a June weekend retreat in partnership with Webster University. In addition to classes in acting, theater, voice, audition preparation, and stage movement, students rehearsed and performed a fully-staged opera scene. This year’s scene was selected from Gilbert and Sulllivan’s The Gondoliers, and was directed by Carol North and Alice Nelson. Students had the opportunity to talk to Opera Theatre Young Artists, current Webster University music students, and critically acclaimed Soprano and AIT Alumna Julia Bullock to get a taste of the collegiate experience as well as the life of a professional musician. The students enjoyed Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’ productions of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro featuring mezzo-soprano MaryAnn McCormick, and celebrated the successes of the AIT academic year with a tent-dinner before attending Verdi’s Rigoletto.
