AIT Students visit Universities in Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois

18-19 AIT Student Delaney Holliday performs in a master class with Professor Karen Lykes at University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music

10 students from the Artists-in-Training program visited schools in Indiana and Ohio in late July. Students toured campuses, participated in master classes, met with faculty and students, and learned about degree programs and application procedures from admissions counselors at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), Butler University (Indianapolis, IN), University of Cincinnati – College Conservatory of Music (Cincinnati, OH), and Millikin University (Decatur, IL). The students also attended Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess at the Cincinnati Opera. This performance was particularly special for the students because bass Morris Robinson, the 2019 Spring Recital Adjudicator, starred as Porgy.

Preparing students for collegiate level study has been a priority of the Artists-in-Training program since its inception. In the last 10 years, 100% of AIT graduates have attended college – many of whom are the first in their families to do so.
