Artists-in-Training students are selected through a local audition process in early fall. AIT faculty join with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis Education and Artistic staff to listen to students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades from area high schools during two days of auditions. Students prepare two memorized selections in opera, art song, musical theatre, spiritual, or folk song which best showcase their vocal range and capabilities. Students must bring their own sheet music to the audition and be prepared to stop and start, repeat a section, or not finish a prepared selection. The selection panel may ask the student to participate in brief vocal exercises to better assess vocal health, range, and flexibility.
Auditions for the 2020-2021 Artists-in-Training Program will take place:
Thursday, September 24th, 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, September 26th, 1-5 p.m.
